Very interesting old postcard Gerry. I can't place the cafe that's in that spot now. I hope you get over to Rothesay again before long. We've considered it as a place to live but it wouldn't be the most practical place for us at the moment.
Thanks for your message and hope you had a good Hogmanay. We watched some Rikki Fulton DVDs, I'm a big fan, reading his autobiography again now! Would like to do a blog about him sometime but first want to get a photo of the flats he stayed in (for his holidays as a child) in Largs, a place he loved.
Largs is now in top place on our list of possible places to live if we manage the move this year. (Did you tell me once that your mother lives there?) Just a great pity there's £20,000 difference in property prices between there and here (bottom end of the market in South Wales).
Just realised I haven't seen the new pier there yet. I meant to get a photo last time but there was too much to fit in the day we went through Largs.
Maybe you'll actually buy a kilt the next time you're tempted! It's great to see Scots wearing them but very silly here to see the so-called 'Welsh tartan' being worn by the patriotic Welsh, there's many a kilt seen in Cardiff and Swansea these days!
The tidal barrier article was very interesting. It's good to save power but I would worry about them ruining the look of the Clyde. I'm sure there would never be enough money for such a venture anyway, as you say.
Hope 2010 will be a good year for you,
Jane
